Front Strut Parts for 85 Wgn 4x4 AL25 body
My next challenge ... Replace front struts. For good reason, hard as a rock and leaking oil.
The problem .... What are the correct struts for this, my, car?
The Monroe struts listed for the car do not fit; diameter is too large.
Part number listed is Monroe 72867.
The part number on the current strut is ck16t1c.
Everything I have checked says that this is the right strut. But there is no way it will ever fit.
Cheers

I highly recommend NAPA. Thats where I bought my new strut inserts. They work like a hot damn! Car handles great on the road, and is still not too stiff off road. I did a write-up on installing new strut inserts on this forum somewhere...try a search if you are interested. (Be sure to download the FRM of the main page too).

Problem solved
The Monroe part listed is the correct one; someone mixed up the boxes in a previous return.
Ended up at NAPA. They had two and everything works reel good.
How can one tell the difference between the stuts for a 4x4 vs. a regular wagon?
The answer is: the struts on the regular wagon are 1/2 inch shorter. ALWAYS take the strut with you to make sure it is the right unit.

taking the strut in when you get the new part is a good idea. Bring both even. I just replaced my struts and springs and the new parts didn't fit at first. Then I reallized I had two different struts on my car. Some bonehead had replaced the driver side strut with a sedan strut at some point in the past. It is an inch shorter for the sedan!
