The very first time I powered the system up I was mildly concerned it might slowly pop out the rear window. It's been like that for well over a year now without any visable damage. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

That deflector over the rear window? Custom built? Have you noticed any mpg gain from it?

Sharp car...really makes something of the styling the wagon has.

I'm not sure how much MPG gain I have from the rear deflector. Before I recieved the car from my grandparents my grandpa had already installed it. But it did not come with the car new. It is some aftermarket Nissan part. But it fits perfectly. I've heard that cars with flat backs, like the tercels, create a vacuum like effect that causes drag. Air is directed downwards by this thing. Does it acutally help? I guess I could pop it off for the next roadtrip and see. heh. But I don't know forsure.

I myself did'nt do the paint job. There was this jeep dealer than had a body shop that offered to do it at a good price. It was ither yellow or blue. But where I used to live there were too many blue toyotas so I finally settled on yellow. Everyone told me to paint it the ashy grey colour it once was rather than a new colour. But hell, if I was going to spend any money painting it I really wanted it to be a nice new non toyota colour that would show off the fact that it's new paint. If I did it the same grey no one would even notice. But yah. Get alot of mixed reviews on the colour. I think with the tinted windows and black trim it offsets the yellow nicely. Lots of people ask me why I picked such an ugly colour. There welcome to their opinion. And I'm welcome to think they are scared of anything not normal that might unbalance their fragile neutral existence.

Well - I do not think anyone here is anything but jealous; it is a tanfastic color!
I just noticed that the inside of the hatch and door/door jams are painted as well - Oh, Wow!
That dealership did a nice job!

Off the subject a bit - but what's the purpose of the row of "gills" on the lower portion of the front doors' ends - for evaporation of any water which enters the doors?
The rear doors do not have this - for what reason?

And another - I presume the twin finned outlets on the body sides at the top of the hatch opening are for air evacuation: This presumes huge pressure differentials between the i/s and the o/s? I didn't think we'd go that fast for such a phenomenon to occur?

Just kidding - I do know about Bernoulli's Principle...

Makes sence to me. Never really payed much attention to the gills.

Takza, It's hard to know exactly how much the paint job cost because I had many other things done as well under the same bill. It came to $2650 before tax.
That included
1. Two new front fenders
2. New Windshield
3. New to be front hood.
4. Body work
5. And the paint itself (which has three layers of pearl)

Also for the paint job I had it stripped down to nothing. All doors were removed, As well as all windows (minus the door windows that could roll down). The front hood needed replacement badly. (my old hood was very damaged due to a drunk guy who though it would be fun to walk on it).
The roof was dented in (same drunk guy). I was acutally astonished that the roof was repaired. I thought it would look warped forever. They did an excellent job.
They also had to remove the doors ect because they painted inside the door jams as well. That cost about 400 extra to do that. But I did'nt want the job to be done half way. The rear back passanger side under the rear window was totally dented in. Hit and Run. Also another heavy dent on the other side in the same place. Except more on the rear corner under the left tail light.
Rocker panels were starting to go too. So they were opened up inside, Rust treated and then rebuilt. The rocker panels were starting to go too.
Picture will explain better than I can.

It did'nt look that bad, Mainly bubbled paint. But then I got in there with a wire brush and went to town to see the real damage. So it was rebuilt.

But yes, As to how much the paint job itself acutally cost. I'm thinking out of that bill it was aprox 900ish, Body work aside.

It was more money that I was used to spending. But when I think about my friends making $600 a month car payments I can't wipe the smile of my face. Car has been in the family since new and only major work it ever needed was a transmission that I had done last year. Twenty one years of service to my family without a hip-up
