What is it?

Post by Snax »

Poking around under the hood of my wagon this evening, I noticed a bulbous looking thing hanging off a bracket just below the starter. It looks like there are coolant hoses going into each end, but they don't connect to anything else. Everything on this car seems to function normally and I have been around a few engines in my time, but I can't figure this one out.

What the heck is it? Do I need it? It looks frightnening similar to the 'Holy Hand Grenade' of Monty Python fame. Should I save it for a killer rabbit?

I forgot that I already downloaded the manual and have done some reading. It is in fact a Holy Hand Grenade! Can anybody count to three?

Or maybe it's just the Air Suction filter that is apparently left over from an exhaust replacement with a non-federalized version. So unless anybody is dying to help me 're-federalize' it (no, I don't really want to), that puppy is going in the trash.

"ONE! TWO! FIVE!"

Alas, it is as you surmised - just the Air Suction Filter.
