I had a miss in the #1 cyl when the engine was cold. Started plugging
hoses ports on the tbsv? valve with the 5 hoses on it. Traced one back to
what they call the AAP valve on the carb. On my last trip to picknpull
I pulled three of the diaphrams. The AAP valve is on the front lower left
of the carb and has three screws holding in on with one vacuum hose on it.
Evidently if the diaphram is leaking it makes havok on the cold start process.
Don't understand it but it's fixed. Been messing with that damn miss for two
months!

BTW- I need the sr5 black trim piece that goes on the outside of the drivers
window- the one that wipes the window as you roll it up and down. And I have a
set of front and rear diffs/gears-4.11.

That info saved me a lot of headache.I had the same thing happening,#1 cyl missing while cold and a lot of black smoke. I plugged the vacuum line going to it and it purrs now, with no smoke. Do you still have an extra diaphragm? I'm looking for one.
