broken wire on unknown sensor

Post by 83TercelSR5 »

There is a green plug in sensor located just to the right of where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. The wire that attaches to it broke off but it doesn't seem to have affected anything. Anyone know what that thing is and if I should fix it? Thanks!

That is a temperature sensor. When I repaired it in my car it seemed to run better - so worth doing.

It is the temp sensor that goes to the emissions computer. Yes, we have a computer in our cars. Very simple device though.
Go ahead and resolder it, maybe with a 2-inch extension of wire the same guage. I had to with mine. Works fine.
