the question is: What are the differences (besides RHD) between JDM tercel wagons & USDM ones?
the idea: Do a JDM conversion to mine.
as far as i know, 2 differences are a toyota carib badge on the hatch & clear front corner lights (i do not care about clear corners, because im gonna buy a regular pair & tint them)
oh wait, anyone know of a good place to buy JDM parts?
In Japan, the outside rearview mirrors are mounted on the front fenders about 6" behind the headlights. It looks odd at first, but if you've ever driven one, you realize how superiors this is. You know exactly where everything around you is without taking your eyes off the road. You can thread your way through the heaviest traffic with ease.
Like in one of those older school buses that shove the mirrors way forward. You can stare straight and see all the way back. Its quite nice actually. How ticked you think the authorities would get if you did this conversion?

doh! i forgot about those mirrors, neonsport. one guy from russia has those on his, i might try that. I also forgot about the license plate holder, but that would be useless because the JDM tag holder is a different size.
i think i will stick to the stock bumpers, put a volvo 240 lip on it, then paint it, like lightning did.
I still want a carib badge, i broke my tercel badge
RE the placement of the mirrors on the fenders: Back "in the day," it was standard for BritMobiles to use that placement, as it truly was easier to see the oncoming cars on either side.
I always presumed the later door placement was for "streamlining and/or esthetics;" I never considered any CPSC or NHTSA rules to prevent the skewering of pedestrians.

The old British roadsters used these...worked OK....looked cool.
