Tercel 4WD trailer hitch- $30
Tercel 4WD trailer hitch- $30
I have a Draw-Tite trailer hitch for a Tercel 4WD wagon for sale. The rear bumper beams on 2WDs are different, so they'd take more work. Basically, this bolts through a couple of threaded inserts on the beam, then you drill a couple of holes and bolt the bottom on. It's simple, unobtrusive, and solid enough for a small utility trailer. It's not a receiver-style hitch. Oh, and it's a little rusty. I'd either wire brush or blast it and paint it before mounting it, but that's up to you. $30 plus shipping.

That looks like a good deal.
Wish I could justify it...rationalizing it is easy, however...
I looked for pix, and found a Draw-Tite Model 28-27057, which has a long beam which bolts to the beam - kinda traditional-looking hitch arrangement. It is a tongue-type. Approx $80 online.
The other is a Hidden-Hitch, Model 60932. This is a simple affair, consisting of an angle which is bolted to the beam, and then an adapter which is bolted to that, which latter has the 1 1/4" receiver. It is a "central-mounting" plate. Also approx $80 online.
I also found several references to a Draw-Tite which is "traditional" in appearance and has a 1 1/4" receiver.

Alright, now I feel like an idiot. I've had this hitch for 2 years, and never got around to mounting it because the threaded inserts in my 2WD bumper beam were the wrong size. 2 years ago, the Draw-Tite listing for this hitch said that it would fit only the 4WD wagon, but now it lists all the Tercels for the model range... except the 2WD wagon. That didn't seem quite right to me, so today I put my wagon on the lift and chased the rusty (but fairly light southern rust) threads.
It turns out the thread was 12 x 1.25, just like the 4WD wagon. Looks like I'll be using the hitch after all.
