Rover gets racin' stripes

Post by Dirtmagnet »

My son came in last night and started taping, masking and painting. Below is what he ended up with. Not bad for spray cans. The Rover has to live up to its name, you know.

We are planning an "Extreme Makeover" later in the summer, after we get a couple more projects out of the way. We'll keep you posted.

From the rear. He painted the hatch black about halfway down.

Reminds me of my younger days...EVERYTHING had to have a racing stripe or two. It was an easy way of modding a car...had a lot of fun with it. Made them go faster.

Hey, Dirt, long time no see !! It's interesting your car has a Beaman plate on the back....means it originally was sold in Nashville. They're one of the largest Toyota dealers around the south, I think.

im not really a fan of racing stripes, but this gives it a great "old-skool" look.

That's great! My first wagon was a 72 country squire with a very potent 429. At the time I was in vo-tech and they threw away 2 dumpsters full of donated oddball ford parts. one of my many scavengings was some rolls of about 5 inch wide OE quality woodgrain sticker material. So of course the stripes on the hood matched the sides very well! Except for 15 years of fade. People seemed to get out of the way of that beast even quicker after the stripes went on too. I tended to play offence on the road back then....

Dirtmagnet, i dont mean to get off-topic, but your avatar shows these HUGE chrome rims, & then i found a bigger pic of it in the gallery, & saw they were 17's. What brand are these? they would go great with my 5% tint. 8)

Hey Moots, we did find a lot of "stuff" under the rear seat, that related to your area. I have the name of the family that originally had it from some paperwork that we found. Looks like it was their family ride. I believe they were in Gallatin. It was in North Georgia before it made its way here.

thebigbread, those are Equus? series 304 I think. They were on my daughters Accord, but she hit a hole and cracked one. They are discontinued now, so I had to buy her a different set.(I had sold the originals) I put on some black American Racing Casino's. I havent put them on the Rover yet.
