Getting some Euro bumpers to USA

Post by Petros »

I notice looking at another posting that the European Tercel4wd has much lighter and nicer looking bumpers than the US-spec ones. I really hate the big, ugly, heavy US-spec bumpers and have been thinking of a way to lighten and streamline them, unitl I saw the Euro bumbers. They look great.

I imagine these lighter bumbers are also used in Japan, Asia and perhaps elswhere. Could anyone on the list in England or Europe (or whereever they use the lighter bumpers) give a guesstimate about what it would cost to get a set of these lighter bumpers from a wrecker and shipped to the US?

Does Canada use these lighter bumpers? If so perhaps I can drive there and buy a set. I have cousins in Van Couver area and only about 2 hour drive for me, perhaps I need to visit them sometime soon.

Does anyone see any problem bolting them on? I would not think there would be an issue there.

you won't find the euro bumpers in the "Van Couver" area or Canada, we have the same bumpers as the states. I would imagine it wouldn't be a big deal to adapt it to our cars... maybe some minor mods but nothing over the top.

If someone does endup shipping them over..... i want one too.

In France, we got different bumpers as yours.
Maybe we can send to you them. If I remember, we've got 2 pieces.
Do you know how we can do and the price that it will cost ?
If we can help you, no problem
Tell me.

See what an auto-dismanter (wrecking yard) would want for them, we will have to convert the Euro. I have a set I can weigh (yours are problably lighter) but I can see what freight would cost from this end. It is probably too expensive to ship something to bulking, but it might be worth a look anyway.

im willing to pay the price for it. i really want one. So 'Tercel Marseille' if you do find the time to look for a front & rear bumper for me that would just be amazing of you... for a hatchback

" It would be considered a bulk shipping item but the weight charge would be less then the flat rate of a freight company"

It might save money to ship two pair (4 total) togerther. Vancouver is only about 2 hours north of me, it would be worth the drive to save shipping cost. Shipping is likely the larger part of the cost any way, splitting shipping 4 bumpers would likely cost less each. If there is a flat rate, it would be just a matter of putting in a strudy crate or wood frame for shipping.

I would like front and rear bumper for the 4wd wagon. But I want to find out the cost first, so I know what I am in for.
