half shafts
Anyone have any ideas how I should go about trying to find some longer half shafts. Something like 3 inches would be nice. I am contimplating a rediculous suspension build.

Okay my curent thought is that I could nab a CV shaft from a FWD car like a carolla. Usualy they are not equal length pieces so I would grab the longer side. Then I would probably use the hub off of that car as long as it is a 4X100 or build a frankenstien shaft using the center from the longer shaft and the ends from the terc. I like the first option best because it brings a possibility of bigger and better brakes. Newer also helps with finding parts. I guess I am going to need to do some JunkYard research.

While you are at it you might look around for something with a tougher transmission that can be made to fit. Presuming you could make an adapter plate for the engine any front-wheel-trans with a rear driveshaft take off can be adapted to work (Subaru perpahs?).
One consideration is to get an All-Track trasmission from a 4-wd version of the Previa van or Corolla wagon, or even a rare Camary. You could then addapt the bigger engine as well, and perhaps the struts and brakes. It would be a big job, but you would end up with something smaller and lighter than the Corralla or Camary. I wonder if you could shoe horn in a V6 camary engine and 4-wd drive train in the Tercel?
Good luck.

That isn't really the direction I am trying to go exactly. I will probably stay with an A series engine. Probably a 7A in the middle of this. The issue with a tranny swap is I believe the ones you have mentioned are fwd based (East West rather the terc N-S) requiring a new cross member and gobs of other stuff.
Maybe this pic will help you imagine the direction I want to go. Think PreRunner. I am working up a plan for a wide-track long-travel front setup. I am thinking 2 CV shafts from the long side of a corolla, corolla wagon hubs and brakes (bigger), 10 or 12 inch travel coilovers and unequal arms, crossmember 2inch spacer and lots of other custom hoo haws. The rear is easy to lift and find good shocks for. Then a set of 15X8's and some nobby tires and we are in buisness.
