I'm glad the other side was OK.....
Instead of parting out my new parts car, I decided to drive it until something drastic happens to one of them. I have other rust issues but this was the scariest safety wise. It was fairly sturdy given its rotten status. I don't think it is going anywhere now.

One problem there- No access to the back nut. Should ever it come loose (dunno if anyones had that issue, but I'd imagine it could happen) you're SOL.

Back nut access
The nut is welded to the plate too, still setting up in the pic. The original caged nut was actually ok but I wasn't taking chances. Control arm bushings are good so I shouldn't have to touch it ever again. I always try to fix things as though I'm going to be the next one working on it. IF I ever need access to it, just be more a little more cutting and welding that's all.

BTW. Thanks for the compliments. Keep working on your welds. Practice is the key. I was actually a little dissapointed on a couple of spots, but welding on your back against gravity isn't the easiest way to weld. I have the burns to prove it!

Some fine fabricating and welding there, Mike. That was my major concern with the car. I'm pretty sure you get both sides up to the par you've got that one at and you'll have no issues with the car from here on out.
I was originally considering doing pretty much the same thing to the car, but I lost my job at the place that I had access to a really good wire feed Lincoln welder before I could do it.
Heh, fabricate up some fender flares, put in those rocker panel replacements you were talking about, stiffen up the bottom of the doors, and you've probably got a car that's ready for another 100,000 miles there.
