'86 SR5 Instrument Cluster & Shroud on eBay - in NC

Post by ARCHINSTL »

This is the third time the seller has listed these items: He had started at $40, and is now down to $1, with no reserve! There is one bid on the instrument cluster.

how does the swap go anyways?

my tercel has NOTHING attatched to the dizzy tachometer pick up, i'm convinced i'll have to run that wire myself.

I did notice a spot in the cluster plug where a wire was missing.

Mootsman and a few others have done this, I believe. They've said it was a snap - so to speak... :D

Mac, it's simply plug and play - It works for the 2WD wagons as well - I got a gauge cluster with tach from the auto wreckers and swapped it into my '87 2WD wagon - works perfect!

it is a simple swap, just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. the only issue i've found is that at some point in the early '85 run, they changed the cluster to a 110mph as opposed to 85mph. i put one from an '84 into my '86, and my miles per hour is way under the actual speed.
1984 Tercel 4wd Dlx. - 192K miles.
1985 Tercel 4wd SR5 - 185K miles (not running)
1986 Tercel 4wd Dlx - 210K miles (dd)

Only 3 to go for the whole set ! lol
