I've seen this happen at least twice to people with smoked lenses. Just be careful. Or get far more intense lights in the back.
i wonder if they have different shades (35, 20 and so on), and about the bulbs, they do make very bright ones, but cost about 7 bucks a pair. A good investment in my opinion, even with stock tail lights.
Until the brighter bulbs, which draw much more current, start blowing fuses. Or if they don't blow the fuses, the brighter bulbs, which are hotter, melt your lenses and reflectors.
