Meguiar's PlastX For Lens Rejuvenation
Goldie's tail lamp lenses were looking pretty dull and weather-beaten, so I purchased a bottle of Meguiar's PlastX rejuvenator.
This is one of those rare products that does much more than one hopes.
It was a miraculous transformation of those lenses; they truly look brand-new!
Ditto for the side marker front lights.
And when I used it on the instrument cover - it truly looks as though there is no cover!
I also used it on the backup safety glasses for weedwhacking and the ancient backup pair of prescription plastic-lensed specs, and the improvement was, again, beyond all expectations.
This is a whole-hearted endorsement of the product; it is amazing!

I got mine at Autozone, but I would think that any store that sells Meguiar products would carry it.
The squeeze bottle is 10 ounces, and for the 4 lenses, the instrument cover and two pairs of glasses I used less than 2 ounces; a little bit goes a long way. The price was $4.99.
My neighbor also used some on his '99 (?) Mustang's headlight covers, which were getting a little cloudy, and it made them look new. I would think this product would be a really useful item in areas with windblown sand and dirt.

I'll try and get some for our Passat. If it works.... The before and afters will sell any doubters. If it doesn't... I will not be surprised at all. Those things are so foggy....

Got some. It's alright. Didn't work amazingly well, but it did clear up some of my sanding swirls from the headlights.

Anyone that's already got a bottle (tube?) of this stuff, can you post the part number for it please?
My local parts store has Meguiar's stuff in stock, they just don't have the catalogue to look up "new" items. They said if I could get the Meguiar's part number off it they could order it in and have it to me within a few days.
Thanks in advance folks.

The only ID I could find on the bottle (apart from the name) is the bar code, which is 70382 10123.
Hope this helps.

Arch, after talking with the local parts guys they asked if there's anything beginning with an "A" or an "M" with four numbers after it?
Barring that, do you have a pic of the bottle that I could print off and take in to them?
I'm really interested in this stuff for use on my prescription safety glasses that some bright soul (me) dropped into my glove box and promptly forgot about them for a while. $200+ to replace them just isn't in my budget so anything that even has the possibility of bringing them back is getting my hopes up.

I scrutinized the bottle again, and the only other number follows Meguiar's address: G12310. Dunno if that's what you need.
It seems odd that the parts people can't just call up their Meguiar's jobber and ask for it by name, though. Are there no Autozone or Advance stores in your area?
Anyway, here is the link to Meguiar's site and description of the product. Hope this helps.

Note - for ? reason, the whole link did not "print in blue," so you will have to copy the whole thing and insert it into the address line.

PS: Someone on TN's site recommended gently using a buffing wheel, but I did not try that.

I wet-sanded with 400... But its actually recommended by a few other places that you start with 400 then move to 1000 grit then use 2000 grit. It, in of itself, will remove massive amount of oxidation, but without a protective barrier (i.e. PlastX or mdwholesale.com (yes, that stuff works. I used it onthe Passat lights first... Aside from my very poor sanding job, it did a wonderful job) ) it will just oxidize over right away.
The PlastX just didn't want to fix my safety glasses or fill in any scratches. Did buff the plastic up nice though.

I happened on something that will clean and shine tail light lenses and so forth. Laquer thinner. Might want to test in a small area...then finish with wax or the above stuff?
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

Doesn't laquer thinner dissolve the plastic? Thats kind of scarey... Might try it though.
