Someone To Welcome - If He Joins...

Post by ARCHINSTL »

This was a response to an answer given on Toyota Nation to a query about the location of the hatch's automatic switch for the cargo light:
" Thanks, archinstl . . .
. . . for that info on the courtesy light switch location, and for the info about the Tercel wagon website - - I've got three of these "little guys" that I try to keep running - - my main daily commuter '83 4wd with 360k on the original (never overhauled) engine, and two "spares" - - another '83 4wd and an '87 2wd . . so I'll no doubt be turning up on these forums from time to time, now that I know about them. Thanks again!
"

With 3 of the cars, he should have a lot to contribute. He lives in SC. His problem was a possible power drain from the switch in question.

Hi. I too am looking for this switch, but I don't see your response where it is located. Would you mind repeating your answer, please.

Thanks,
Barry

Thank you, Tom.

My problem originated with the rear wiper not working. Then if I opened and closed the rear hatch, it would work for a couple of days. Now it has quit altogether. Looking at the wiring schematic, I noticed that the ground for the rear hatch light and wiper ground go through a switch. So I assumed that my problem was the switch. I'm thinking after reading your post that it may be an intermittent open in the wiring harness where it gets stressed from the opening and closing of the rear door.

I'll get a volt / ohm meter out and start looking further.

Thanks again for the quick reply.
