AAAAAARRRG..

Post by Typrus »

Just blew my front drivers strut tower brace bearing..... Rubber assy blew clean out. Yay. Pulled it and found that my strut is shot. After 7 months. Yeehaw. Thank God for Monroe's Lifetime Warranty.
Should I try and do new springs as well?
So $150 later for the 2 rubber bushings plus bearing.... I have to do my struts again. I'm kinda annoyed by that..... Is that justified?

Parts and parts stores are starting to piss me off...

You gotta stop trying to get air in your terc.

Haha, j/k. Thats shitty man. I've had pretty good luck in the past with Monroes. Hopefully you have better luck on your next set.

Last time I got air was before I replaced them. About 2 feet according to the buddy recording it. So about 8 months ago. Heh.
I think my springs likely need to be replaced.

So my car is out of commision (again) for the next few days. Joy.

If you're looking for a set of custom lifted springs, I found a place in CA that will wind some but that;s for about $300 per pair. And sadly, that's the cheapest quote I've received. Pedders AU and King Springs would both meet or exceed this cost when you calculate shipping. Local spring shops here in portland quoted me $200 per spring; they claimed that it was due to machine setup time.

Front springs and plates

Post by kamiphloj »

I got my new front sprins in FtC from Advanced,I think.Less than $100.Around $70,as I recall. You want to verify what PN they come up with.
I think they are fine.Putting them in with Cheep Import spring compressors a bit scary. It was either Monroe or Gabriel that listed an interesting top plate/urethane bearing product.I jusst searched "monroe shocks".Cheep dealers comep, too.kamiphloj
Like my old Volvo 544 with 4wd.I seldom regret neversieze or threadlocker
