Ignition ????

Post by rust collector »

HI!

I have an 86 terc, bone stock, and it has points ignition...

Well, my question is: what boxes and things do I need to fit the electronic ign?

Its actually not points. Only looks like it. Its more than likely the Toyota IIA (Integrated Ignition Assembly) with magnetic pickup.

Call up Crane Cams or the likes and ask for a process on hooking up their box. I've called before and they gave me a very thorough walk-through... Just don't actually remember where I put the paper with it on it... Our ignition is pretty good, but if you start breaking into some higher performance stuff, a seperate box is needed more to allow for a stronger coil than just about anything.

It shouldn't be too hard I'd think. If you do it, let us know what you find.

Actually, it is points(!)
Guess it is an european thing?
Well, I can find corollas and such with 4a engines all day, so I figure that would fit my 3a, but I don´t find much information about what I need.
#1 The distributor...
#2 Some kind of "black box"?
#3 Wires here and there

OR, is that setup self contained, with everything in the distributor?, kinda like the gm hei system?
I dunno??? :?

What I need is the integrated thingie you mentioned, I guess...

I think everything you need will be in the distributor, but I'm not 100% sure.
