Headlight swap

Post by nyterc1 »

What would it entail to change my 87 over to sealed beam headlights? Thanks :

You'd need the headlight buckets, corner lamps, the grille, and the plugs from the earlier lights.

I've been thinking about the reverse, actually.
Anyone have some pictures of the componants of the composite headlight assembly, in and removed from the car? Would it be pretty easy to swap over?
I'd want to try and get the German version. They drive on the same side of the road, but they have those awesome "E" Code reflectors inside. Get some shiny clear corners to go with.... hehehehe

One advantage being that the composites offer a smoother front edge. Meaning less swirling air, and therefore, resistance to forward motion. How much is irrelevant to me, I just see that as one of the "incentives" to try and do the swap.

H-4 conversion

Post by kamiphloj »

In the parts index Typrus has an older posting"H-4 conversions".In the replies is a link to Stern Lighting. It will get you in a catalogue to order and learn about lights. You can get an appropriate composite for the sealed beam bucket.Cibies are good. You con get the E-type.Early 70's I put Marschalls in a Sprite.Loved them.kamiphloj

I know I can get the right composite for that bucket, and am contemplating that, but first I'd like to investigate the possibility of the bigger light. I just like those front setups better. Looks better in my minds eye.
