Broken Antenna

Post by scotisha »

So I finally got my tercel (yeah!). It is in great condition except that the antenna is snapped off. I went to Crappy Tire and get a replacement antenna but I am unable to get it on. I took of the old 'cap'/sleeve but I can't get the old metal telescoping bit out. After alot of confusion, I read the Chilton tercel repair manual and it says to replace the whole thing. I don't want to do this so is there anyway to remove the metal part??? I can put a link to some pics if a thousand words are needed...

Mine too

Mine was snapped too, so were all the ones at the wreckers, so I got a AE92 one from the wreckers. Noticed the plastic screw down bit is different, so I took the knobs off the tip of the arial, with some force could pull the arial out of the base and put it into the AE95 base. All good now.

Is yours a right or left fender antenna?

I tried to stick my dads old 1984 Toy 4wd pickup antenna on... Big ol beefy with the spiral-wound design... Needless to say it was a no-go. That would've been funny I must say though... 6 foot stick off my right-hand fender... lol
