Vacuum advance diaphragm substitute question

Post by pantah »

I have a 3a motor and the vac adv diaphragm is shot (both diaphragms). Question is there a single diagphram unit available that would work? The double units are not available here in Panama, and the single unit would work under most engine conditions, plus maybe obtainable here.

Thanks in advance

PS, i did attempt to repair the diaphragm material as posted on this website, but wasn't 100% successful.

One member uncrimped the edges of the metal "cans" to get to the diaphrams. Using a little silicone gasket goop and some lightweight cloth...you could probably repair them?
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

I tried that with partial success. I think it would just be easier to buy a single diaphragm unit (if i know what to look for) here in Panama. Getting stuff here from the US is problematic with import taxes, flaky delivery, paperwork, etc.
