Bolt sizew question????
Bolt sizew question????
what size are the drain and fill bolts on the tranny and front and rear diffs? I need to change the fluids but I cant seem to find out the size of those bolts. I have a repair manual but it doesnt say the sizes of them. I think I have to go out and buy a new socket to fit them. I just need to know what size to buy.

If I remember right its either 23 or 24. Its the same size on the rear diff. If you can reach under that far, check it out.
NEVER use a 12-pointed socket on these. They will round off.
ALWAYS remove all the filler plugs before touching the drains. If you remove the drain, drain it, then find you have a seized filler.... What then?

The hex size is 24mm. For those of you who don't have a 24mm socket, a 15/16" will work. It is only .008" smaller. I have been using a twelve point 15/16" on my car since I bought it in 1986 as well as many other Toyotas and have not rounded any yet. Just make sure you get it on all the way and squarely.
And as Typrus mentioned...remove the fill plug first.
