Sometimes when I go to start my car lately, the engine won't turn over. I'll hit the starter button, and it'll just *click*. It seems to happen mostly when it's cold and wet out.
What's interesting is that it's not related to my starter not getting enough juice. If I roll the car forward and let out the clutch in third or so, thereby spinning the engine a bit, it frees up, and the starter will get things going normally. It's as if the engine is actually stuck somehow. What could be causing this, and what can I do to fix it? I'm sure all that pushstarting isn't too good for the transmission.
Sticky engine
May not be your problem, but the copper contacts in these starters wear badly, leading to this exact problem. I have changed out the contacts in my starter twice now in the 13 years I've had my '87 2WD wagon.

there is a great place to have starters and alternators rebuilt in Eugene.
They are located off 99 and clearlake road. They came usually give you same day service too. I just bought a new alternator for my benz called in the morning picked up that afternoon.
