First of all, I must say that I am very happy not to be the only person enamored with these fine little cars! I bought my '83 SR5 6-speed just over a year ago for $200 from the original owner. I spent another $300 on a radiator, timing set, brake and coolant hoses, shocks and struts, and changed all of the fluids (the car had been sitting for a while) and have enjoyed driving it every day since. The fuel mileage is great (over 30 MPG), the headroom is great (I'm 6'3"), and there is plent of room to haul around my girls and ther gear. Also, I get to keep the wear and tear down on my other vehicle. My car is completely stock except for a peeling 2nd paintjob and a dent in the driver's door.

Welcome !
You will find that everyone is most helpful here, and there is a lot of good information.
I liked your mentioning "...my girls and their gear...", as that is exactly what I did with my then-new '83 and 3 girls who raced BMX.
