Where are the diodes that control the brake warning light

Post by pantah »

Symptoms: Brake warning light is lit all the time, gets brighter when parking brake applied. I have verified that the fluid level and parking brake switch operate OK. I have downloaded the manual which included a wiring diagram. It shows a diode in the warning light circuit. I can't find the diode, what gives, is there a fix for this? Is it really the diode at fault. Thanks, Phil

Have you tried unplugging the little float thingy in the resevoir to see if the light goes out?

Either that or is there one of those sensors in the proportioning valve that I've seen on other cars? Not sure if there is one on our cars or not.

I know that the symptoms you're describing are identical to when my resevoir goes low and it needs topping up. If the little float valve has gone south, it would give the indications you speak of, hence why I asked about disconnecting it......

In other toyota related cars I have had the brake light could stay on if a brake light is out or in the case of my Prism the cruise control was broken as well.

Be sure to check all your light bulbs before getting into anything heavy.
