Salvage!

Post by Typrus »

Alright. Made a salvage run yesterday, and figured I'd just throw up some cars I found and some of my reactions.

86 MR2, 4AGE Black-Letter... Dunno if it runs, but it had 123,400 miles (lol... 1234..) in 2000 when the T-Belt was changed. Its pretty much gutted, and the title is purged anyway. I might steal its seats if I can find some money lol.
New Tercels! 94 2-door, 95 2-door, 93 2-door.
I examined the various Subies at the yard and all had longitudinal engine mounts, whether AWD, 4WD, or FWD. Might be a useful tidbit for later mods.

I found Tercel 4wd No. 36924! 83 Terc, eng and trans are good, but it has terminal cancer. It's likely thats why it was given to salvage. The coils seem strong, but the back end is saggy. The CV's are new, and it has a nice dust pan. I told the lady to try and keep it there as long as possible. I'm going to try and find some salvagable parts.

They cubed the Terc SR5 85 with sunroof! Mother$&#$%rs...

AE86!!!!!!! GT-S TWIN-CAM!
Black and Blue top 4AGE.
85 model with 201,548 on the odo.
All 5 gears engage in the tranny.
Looks to be in great shape, but for one thing.... THEY PILFERED THE REAR AXLE!!!! I saw GT-S Twin Cam and got so happy till I saw around the hood of the car next to it... That was a sad moment.
They have a Celica GT, but the person butchered it trying to make it a soft-top. No wonder they turned it in.

Now let me flip the page for the 2nd yard...
87 MR2 Black-Letter 4AGE... Engine seems to be seized, but I'd like to further investigate... Maybe a bad starter I'd hope.
84 Tercel 4wd No. 109,751. Deluxe. Seized tranny, and they dunno if the engine runs. Otherwise unacceptional.
Aug 85 (86?) Tercel 4wd SR5. No. 207, 616. Cruise control, sunroof, and a hitch. Alloy rims as well (assuming they didn't junk the 2 that aren't on the car). Very little rust, but people have slightly disassembled it.

73 Old 442!!!!!! GREAT shape......... NO TITLE!

77 Celica GT 5-speed, RA29146253. No title, and the cancer has a foothold.

At another place, Blake's Salvage in Eerie, they want $35 each for the calipers off a 95 Paseo. Couldn't remember if it was the 95 or 96 that worked, he says they are different.

Blake's says they have a few Terc 4wd's, and when I asked what I could get for them he said he figured anything you asked. Blake's is huge btw.... Also way in the middle of nowhere.
They have 1 AE86 SR5, no engine and no axle (someone around here has the same idea as me it seems...) and they have 4 MKI MR2's, but all the engines are gone.

I told Typrus last time he saw that car to pull the cruise control out; it's very rare.

I'd love to buy it for my car, but I don't know if it would work with my Weber.

Yes. Someone did.

Anyone know what all is involved? It looks more complicated than the wiring lol...

I still need to ask how much for it.

3ACPower got cruise parts from a tercel and put them in his tercel. So he'd be the only one with a good idea. Also, you could look in the factory repair manual. It would show you all the parts of the cruise system. You would need to grab all the wiring and switches from inside the car, then grab the mechanical/wiring/vacuum/linkage goodies from under the hood.

Pay the wreckers like $30 or less for it. Then sell it to someone here for way more! :D I might buy it if it would work on my weber. But I think making the linkage work would be tough.

I am really interested in a cruise.

The Toyota and Chilton manuals do not even address the cruise control. I tried one from a Corolla but they are not close.

As I understand it most of the components fit under the dash by the steering column.

I have the control stalk. I really would like a cruise control.

Typrus,
I am in need of a new front pasenger corner lens and rear pasenger lens for an '83 SR5 Terc Wagon. Got any there?
