Anybody thinking of a 4AC swap?

Post by neonsport »

I've got a GM factory rebuilt 4AC long block that I picked up a while back for a swap that never happened. It's beautiful, still oiled and wrapped in plastic, and ready for your project. The assembly includes a totally rebuilt head complete with cam (not sure whether it's new or a regrind, but it looks new), rockers and shafts, timing belt with new tensioner, new oil pump, new pistons, rings, bearings, etc. The rest of the gaskets needed for assembly are included as well. All you'd need is to swap the necessary 3AC stuff (manifolds, water pump, balancer, timing cover, flywheel, etc), and bolt it in.

This is the same long block you'd get if you ordered one from a Chevy dealer, if they're still available. I picked this one up myself from a GM warehouse. Basically you can get factory quality for the price of a generic rebuild kit without the labor or a core engine.

The price on this is $400, and I can drop it off at a freight terminal for shipping at your expense. Drop me a PM if you have any questions.

I'll do a little checking, but the cheapest way to ship something like this is if you have a freight account and a commercial address (with loading dock) to pick it up.

Crap! Thats a great deal! I'd be all over it if I needed an engine right now...in fact it is still tempting just to get more displacement...

Bump for a great deal.

My best estimate at the point looks like $110 to ship to Pascagoula, which is less than I would have figured. That rate would be terminal to terminal, so I'd drop it off directly here, and you'd have to pick it up at the freight terminal there. Delivery, especially to a residential address, would add to the cost.

Picking this one up at the terminal would be pretty easy. I picked mine up and put it in the back of my wagon by myself.

I was stationed in Pascagoula for 2.5 years. I was just making a guess. Speeking of Katrina in the other thread I hope all is well for you. That had to suck. I would be afraid to see how much was even left after that.

Well take care,

Nope not in the Navy, my family has been here for about 4 generations. Ironicly my Mother met my Step-Dad, who is who I call Daddy being he has raised me, here in Pascagoula due to the Navy presence. They recently shut down the Homeport and Lakeside, No Navy here.

As far as Katrina, when I get a sec I will post pics to show what we look like.......you wont believe it.
