Just thought I'd get this going. Will be interesting to see where most people sit mileage wise. I imagine most will be between 150,000 - 250,000 miles. Those with super high mileage tercels, please share details!

My 83 Deluxe had between 300-400K before the tree branch took out the windshield in 2005. The rim was too corroded to hold a replacement. Did not modify much car from stock, had two engines and two transmissions, a couple of speedometers (that's why the uncertainty in miles), couple of half shafts. replaced small bits and parts inside and out, replaced all bake components a couple of times, religiously changed oil -usually Valvolene, replaced alternator, etc, though never never rebuilt carb. Owned it from 85 to 95 and drove it daily, commuted 90-100 miles daily for 5 years, drove it across the country from Colorado to Virginia several times, drove it in mountain snow and beach sand, AC worked until the end (blew out seal when I incorrectly put in R12 (held can upside down-DUMB), Dealt with a lot of the maintenance problems discussed in this forum. These cars will go forever if properly maintained!

I have two wagons bought used....an 83 with 187,000 miles and an 86 with 157,000 miles. I also have an 86 3 door sedan that just turned 332,000 miles today. I use that as my work "truck". It pulls a trailer that is sometimes loaded with about 2000 lbs. Believe it or not, I am still on the original clutch. The only work done to the engine has been water pumps and timing belts plus normal maintenance.
What great cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats awesome!! And 332,000 miles! I think we have a winner! I can't believe the engine is original; crazy. Toyota did an incredible job on these cars!Chris wrote: I have two wagons bought used....an 83 with 187,000 miles and an 86 with 157,000 miles. the speedo cable in my tercel broke at 228,000KM and stayed that way for about 5 years of driving (it was parked for a few years in between there) its now at 240,000KM, but i think its alot closer to 300,000.

I don't want to run out to my car to jot down the exact miles..but i know it turned over 265,000 not too long ago. My car was all original when I bought it in 1999 with 148,000 miles on it. by the time I hit 260,000 I had replaced the clutch TWICE, replaced the alternator, water pump, radiator, Tranny TWICE (the first time was a crappy used one without the original extra low that i regreted ever purchasing..now I have a rebuilt with EL) Master cylinder, CV's on several occasions and now, a rebuild on the engine as well....still original Carb..but it is in bad shape...still drives me 45-50 miles a day though. all $$ well spent.
them: so you're telling me your tercel has 1.5 liters...where as my pepsi has two?
me: yes, can you seat 5 people in your pepsi...and does it have 4WD? oh...my bad

When my Blue baby was working I'd get 24 with it hard in the floor, going around 90 mph every morning.

My 85 3 door has 191,000. It's slowly going, the #2 cylinder has only about 55 lbs. of compression. The 87 4 wd has 142,000 and the automatic trans is getting real sloppy between 2nd and 3rd. A few transmission shops say there is no adjustments, and eventually it just won;t shift. I work for a contractor that has a 97 Tacoma that has the V6 and he has almost 370,000 miles with everything original.
I remember asking this question to the General board a little while ago. It's nice to see how everybody else is currently, especially with a lot of traveling for the seasons. I'm at around 110,000mi right now. I just replaced the outer tie rod ends, and the front struts. Front struts were OEM original when the car was made, 21 years old, and had no resistance whatsoever when they were pulled out... Man was that interesting to see...
I do burn a little oil though if I sit idling in this stop and go traffic however, and the emissions stink like burning plastic... Probably time for new valve seals and head gasket....

My '87 2WD and my '85 4WD SR5 both have right at 147,000 and both are 100% original and still kicking
I have driven toyota trucks and celicas for years with a corona in there (very first car at 18 yr old) and they all were over 200,000. The '75 celica had over 350,000
Hell I had a '79 celica gt with 200,000 or so that was stolen from the front yard, driven to the next town where the fella did a drive by shooting, after the shooting he left and was headed down the highway where a cop flashed his lights to tell him to dim the lights on my car (it only had brights) the cop got behind him to tell him to dim, when the guy saw the cop he ran for miles before flipping it off a bridge running 110 miles an hour, the cop clocked him right before the flipped it. Needless to say that was the end of the Grey Goose. BTW the motor was removed and used in another car.
Gotta love the Yoda
