Possible PNW Meet?

Post by coltarms »

I know that we have quite a few of us in the Pacific NW area of the US, and I also know that Ski-Wagons is located in Seattle, WA. What would be the possibility of a meet in Seattle or Portland or somewhere in between (or somewhere where Typrus can come too so he doesn't feel neglected.)

OK! January! I'm going to try to set up a run from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA in January 2006. Hopefully we'll have some snow and need to use our 4wd! I figure we can visit the guys from SKIWAGONS! Please reply if you're interested so I can look into the logistics.

There is a small chance I could make it. It's not a bad drive, it's just that it is expensive to get on and off Vancouver Island for me. I'll let you know.

I've made the Eugene-Seattle run in my Tercel before. It's doable, but is certainly an endeavor. Also, i can only make it if it doesn't interfere with winter term classes. Summer'd work better for me.

I definitely want to do a run in January so as to play in the snow. Would be lots of fun! A summertime run is also very do-able, but probably gonna be hot do to the whole 'no A/C' in my tercel. Summer time run could be down to Grants Pass and then to the Oregon coast and return to Portland along 101. Dunno yet....

OK so no big huge GTG but how about coffee or something on a Saturday or Sunday morning for us Portland/ Hillsboro types? Always good for us new guys to put faces with names.

Coffee is a good start. I think we may need to wait for snow to race as my dead grandma could woop this thing on her bike in good weather. Get some snow on the ground though and her arthitis may slow her down just enough...

Calvin

Now we just need a time and place.

Well, now that school's out for the year, I could meet some afternoon, Portland/Tigard, etc isn't too far for me, someplace in between would be great, but since there are more of you from Portland it would probably be closer to there.

Grandma.

Well with respect to Granny, she would have a chance. My car run circles around her. I'll even give her a 30 sec head start. Rally or not someones gonna lose, or brake a hip....

I say we meet at stump town in SE P-town 34th and Belmont. Is that to far for anyone?

A new place, cool. OK that works for me. I am busy this Saturday the 17th but am open in the morning on Sunday the 18th. A later weekend is fine also if a Saturday is better and if people need more time.

Calvin

Heck maybe I will go have coffee anyway...

Ok, there are definitely enough people in the PNW for a little get-together. How about breakfast/lunch somewhere? Probably not downtown Portland as parking sucks, but Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Vancouver, Gresham, etc should work fine. If some nasty dirt roads are more of what you want, I know some great places in the Tillamook State Forest, and there is a nice little restaurant on Hwy6 on the way out there. My Fiancee can take my jeep in case any of us get stuck. There should even be snow above 2000ft. Sunday the 10th or Saturday the 16th would work great for me, as the CubScouts get most of my free time.
