Front and rear Differential fluids, change to syn

Post by mountaindude »

I have searched with no satisfaction. What is a decent gear oil for the front and rear differentials? I have used only conventional, is there any benefits or risks in choosing a synthetic? Thanks

Stick with typical gear oil in the rear diff, doesn't need anything fancy. Here is a link to the most informative thread on the front diff/tranny fluid I have seen. Keep in mind, there is not a consensus, other than to say, servicing the gear oil (be it with a GL-4 or GL-5) is a good thing.
