i have been using Berrymans "chem dip" for carb parts. it comes in a gallon can that you can drop the disassembled carb body into . there is also a basket for dipping small parts. there are other brands that are similiar. another thing they have in common is that this is nasty smelling stuff. they recomend dipping for 30 minutes or so but i have left parts in for 24 hours with no damage (as far as i know) i have done at least six carbs this way. when i pull the parts out i blast them with the water hose. i blow out the holes with carb cleaner (aerosol can with tube) then blow out with canned air (computer cleaning type aerosol can).
i've been using carb kits (35-45.00 at local parts store) mostly for the gaskets.
i got tired of trying to get those solinoids off (wire twisting) now i cut the wires and install splice connectors (male and female)
when reinstalling i've had leaks where the gas line bolts to the top of the carb. the leak usually starts about three or four days after install. (paper gaskets) I just snug it up and its good to go.
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

xirdneh,I bought, rebuilt and installed a carb about a year ago.
Trouble is,it dies half the time wile idleing at a red-light.If I tap the gas-pedal it stops it from dieing...so I figure its an idle(jet?) or vacume leak.
It did this with the old carb too...so mabey I transferd a bad part when I rebuilt.What-say-you?
Alan :)

does the car run normal except for the dying part?
