Re: Faded emblems
After figuring condition and preferred state of emblems it is time to start improving them. In this case chrome surfaces were very intact so I scraped most of that remaining black paint away to get steady surface for primer. Usually you want to avoid having uneven surface when painting because you c...

Re: Faded emblems
In second part you want to consider what kind of appearance you want to make when refreshing emblems. There are two ways: custom and original look. In custom way to try to think, how I can remake emblems so that they are more cool than original ones. There are several techniques for this. Some like ...

Faded emblems
Emblems are small but important part of the car. Unfortunately Tercel emblems have usually faded colors. Therefore, restoring them can give new appearance to whole car. Here is my restoration example of some emblems that I found lately from an auction. I did find emblems that belong to 1985 AV-II Ca...

Re: Fuel tank access hole
I have learned that impact wrench and rust penetrant may help with some rusty bolts. You could still remove that broken 14mm bolt depending how much thread is visible. And there are several techniques for that depending what kind of equipment you have available. You could look for those techniques f...

Re: Horsepower
I was thinking a twin turbo 2jz 2jz's are getting constantly more expensinve and you need to find a transmission for that too. Why not install a turbine or a rocket on the roof? No transmission issues at all and more power of course. You would be also the first to own a jet engine/rocket Tercel. My...

Re: 4WD fuel pickup line?
I have used two methods on this part since both of my 1987's needed desperately a new tank and a new pickup line. I bent an unused FWD one to my another and that worked well. A new part had rust free pickup lines. I would not try this with older pickup lines. And I asked a metal shop to manufacture ...

Re: Wanted: 4ac engine
You could try to look after a 4A-FE too. The block is same but you need to swao a 3A head and you need to buy 4A pistons + piston rings for 8 valve head.

Re: Would anyone be interested in my Tercel if I moved and sold it?
I think that you could list it to cars for sale section and see who is interested. And you could post it to Facebook group too. Some members are looking to buy one for sure.

Re: diesel chevette
They sold Chevette in big numbers so I understand if many have memories with them. But it is surprising that they kept on making them during 80's. European car makers got new FWD models already on 1979 since Kadett was first introduced already on 1973. So I understand that the 1983 Chevette can feel...

I think FSM has correct Ohm readings for that gauge. You can check it out from there. You find correct readings from page BE-26.

Free Tercel is always a good one! Take good care of it! Or use it as least as spare part donor. Parts for these are getting harder to find all the time.

Re: vibration when car stops
My BEA had also a rough idle, which resulted into higher vibrations. At least one reason was a leaky TVSV. Afterwards I needed to adjust my timing and it became already a lot smoother. Therefore many minor things can affect your idle. You can spray start spray to intake manifold components if you su...

Re: Sputters or dies after running a while.
You will notice very small movement of RPM gauge if your ignition system works as planned. Therefore that is a very good gauge to monitor state of your ignition system. It if works well, then you will take a closer look of fuel system.

Re: 1986 Tercel 4wd
I did spend lately some days inspecting this Tercel further. This car turned out to be positive surprise considering the fact that it has been outdoors since 2007 at least. The body is pretty much rust free and very well rust protected excluding wheel arches. Therefore, I declare that this car is de...

Re: 1987 Tercel 4wd project
It is time to do June update for my red 1987 ones. BHP is still on display, so I have been working mostly with BEA. I have been putting finishing touches to the look of BEA due to closing antique vehicle inspection. The basic requirements are that vehicle should have mostly original OEM parts. Safet...
