Re: 1986 Tercel 4WD Sweden restoration
I intend to keep the emissions stuff working as is. I have drilled out the carb now and the car runs alittle better. I reokaced the valve seals and been tinkering with the car. I had to repair the gas tank again but its not leaking anymore. The car has been running great since my last tune up and ...

Re: 1986 Tercel 4wd
Look nice! Nice to see a different color combo for the interior. Where in finland do you live? I make trips to the salla area sometimes. =) I have a 86 tercel that i restored.
Thanks! Brown T4wd interior is not that common anymore in Finland. That was part of my interest to get this car going ...

Re: ‘84 SR5 Full Part-Out Sydney, Australia
Hi Simon, welcome to forum from my side too. I would be interested in two things. 1. That brown hand brake console and 2. That black cover in rear hatch, which says SR5. I will send you a private message too if you ship globally.

Re: Distributor rebuild
Here is the comprarision of the gears. First distributor is from 1987 Carina II and second one is an European spec. Tercel 4wd distributor with points.
If you look carefully, you will see a pin holding Tercel distributor gear meanwhile Carina distributor has only bare gear with press fit.

Re: 4A-FE as a rebuild block
Wow, incredible work on a big project. Looks great.
Thank you! These engines were a big project. But I learned a lot about Toyotas A-series engines during these builds. It is very interesting that different heads bolt up so well between different Toyota blocks.
And the later 4A blocks have a ...

Re: 4A-FE as a rebuild block
And I managed also to assemble my 4A-FE block with my 4A "wavy" head. I had to drill four new holes. One for the driver side engine/transaxle mount and three new oil pan holes. I still need to make a bracket holder for coolant pipe since late model 4A blocks do not have anymore a hole for coolant ...

Re: 4A-FE as a rebuild block
Small update to my early 3A rebuild. I just got parts back from machine shop and managed to assemble engine. Main differences in early 3As are according to my experience: main bearings, connecting rod bearings and flywheel size. I had a AISIN clutch + pressure plate kit for my 1987 Tercels but it ...

Re: Distributor rebuild
A small update for distributor rebuild. I have recently found out that latest 4A distributors came without pin/key gear on the distributor shaft. The gear on such distributors is basically a one centimeter thick gear. You want to have access to hydraulic press if you want to rebuild a 4A distributor ...

Re: 1986 Tercel 4wd
Thank you! I will continue this project also this year. I have fixed worn out seat fabrics during winter with my intact ones and I will continue fixing this car with a new rear exhaust and with new rear brake lines. I did find a couple of spots that need welding but nothing major. This car could be ...

Re: How does the SR5 differ from ”standard”?
I just presented three different models. You live in all three countries? And I don't lecture to you. I just provide all SR5 to all members here. You can provide additional information too if you want to.terceldude wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2025 12:28 pm Why are you lecturing me when I already know that. I live there!

Re: 1985 Toyota Tercel general spec. Brochure
That is a good list of abbreviations. I did not know all of them before.
Maybe the most important thought is your comment: "There is much evidence that Toyota contradicted themselves in the sense of model codes and production dates." So you can prove Toyota wrong but please provide some ...
