85 SR5 4WD

Hey

It is a sad day. I am going to put my Tercel up for sale. I do not have the time or the health to take care of it.

It is an 85 SR5 with a gold exterior with a sunroof ps/pb/mt 6 speed. There is a tiny amount of surface rust. The exterior is in good condition.

Interior is in good condition ...

I have yet to find a replacement better than the original. The cover does keep alot of crud and water from directly contacting the engine particulary water and the alternator and crud on the timing belt.

It is handier to pull the rad but not necessary. With the rad in you can still get to the pulley but you need a few extensions.

The thermostat may not be the problem. The temperature sensor (that thing that gets in the way and is easily disconnected) near the timing belt cover does go. I have three to compare with and they all show different temperatures.

Front Springs

How can tell the front springs are going/gone?

They are original and I have replaced the shocks.

When I swapped my 3ac with a 4ac I thought it would be a good idea to replace the gaskets. There is a minor and major gasket set. I am not sure what is in the minor but the major includes gaskets/seals like a head, valve cover, carb, intake, exhaust, exhaust connector, thermostat, cam ... and more ...

The best tool for the swap is an impact gun.

The cheapones on Fleabay work really well and can take alot of abuse. The torque is not as great as a Dewalt or Millwakee but then you can buy 3 for their price. You can use regular sockets for an impact wrench. They will crack a little easier than the ...

I am really interested in a cruise.

The Toyota and Chilton manuals do not even address the cruise control. I tried one from a Corolla but they are not close.

As I understand it most of the components fit under the dash by the steering column.

I have the control stalk. I really would like a ...

I thought about drilling holes, I was kind of concerned with weakening the cross member.

A plug similar to the ones used for drain holes would probably work.

I went through a similar experience.

After stripping that nut.

I posted in this forum my experiences.

Basically, I ended up going to the wrecking yard and getting a used cross member. I paid 60 bucks for the cross member and it took 2 hours to replace.

Best 60 bucks worth of part.

Your description seems to match my experience.

I always thought it was that way.
