Re: 84 rod bearings

I would assume the engine has never been apart and machined, thus a standard size crank. If you want to be sure, you could always take the crank to a machine shop and ask them to measure the journals to see if its ever been ground down, if you dont have calipers. the crank specs should be listed in ...

Re: 84 rod bearings

Early rod bearings are wider and have a left hand tang, later rods bearings are narrower and have a right side tang. Rock auto has both. Early top, late bottom in the picture.

You have later style rod bearings. Measure them with plastigauge to determine what undersize you need.

Re: 84 rod bearings

Drum brake help

Hello-- I need some advice with the drums on my 7age wagon. Ever since like day 15 of owning my wagon, the brake pedal has complete ass -- no pressure, car nose dives when you hit the pedal. I've dealt with it, and tried remedying the issue by changing boosters, masters, and wheel cylinders to no av...

Re: A potential source for hard to find new parts.

I forgot to do a search before I posted that. I just did one and I see some people tried them and didn't actually find the Tercel parts they wanted. amayama sources parts directly from the oem. if the oem doesnt have it, then they cant get it. i tried using them to get headliner clips, screws, etc....

Re: Running warm - multiple bad OEM t-stats??

Re: Stock vs. Weber

I've only had a Weber on my car and I've never had any carb problems. My gas mileage isn't great though, getting about 18 mpg but that's probably due to my 27 inch tires. 18 mpg would be terrible. 4.11 gearing should get high 20s, 3.73 gearing should get low 30s. Are you taking the size difference ...

ive had three wagons as well. you have to use the shorty air filter. the one that comes with the standard weber kit does not fit.

Re: Stock vs. Weber

I prefer the stock carb because where I live, we have cold humid winters, and the Weber is prone to icing during warm up in those conditions. I like the simplicity of the weber but there are some drawbacks like that. Also, the weber ends up being too tall for a lot of tercel's (not sure why it clea...

Re: Weber carburetor questions

your phenolic spacer is missing, which is bad. the spacer not only is used for the pcv connection, but its also used to prevent heat soak and vapor lock of the carb. ask around on the facebook page, someone should have one for sale. without seeing a video, you may be chasing a red herring with you t...
