Re: no electricity

I checked all my fuses and they looked good, I tried looking to see if my relays are bad but couldnt find too much info on testing them. have you checked the dash fuses and the und...

Re: 4A-GE Swap Thoughts

Thanks for the info, Petros! I'm not planning to really chase more than stock power from the 4A-GE, but now that you mention lightening the flywheel I'll definitely look into that. I never really put much thought into how heavy the 3A-C flywheel was, but it's certainly noticeable. I doubt the motor...

Re: 4A-GE Swap Thoughts

Sweet! Kind of had a feeling the standard intake might not fit, hopefully I can find a lower profile carburetor manifold. Do you know if using a 4A-C crank will be much cause for concern? I've read that they are a little weaker and not as well balanced. Nah it should be okay. And the only intake th...

Re: 4A-GE Swap Thoughts

I've been considering swapping the 3A-C in my wagon out later on in a year or so. From what I already understand is the 4A-GE uses an 8 bolt pattern for the flywheel, and the stock flywheel is too large for the stock wagon transmission. From what I've gathered, the 4A-C bolt pattern is 6 bolts just...

(careful of the TVSV valve, it is platic and easy to break when old and brittle, you need it!).
Good luck.
Not that it matters, but the first gens got an all brass tvsv. still brittle though...

Re: 82 Thermostat housing

Reason why I ask is I remember on my Mustang I pulled the omissions and smog pump off freed up some horsepower but I don’t want to like the check engine light to come on or anything like that These cars dont have check engine lights haha. If your engine has the stock carb on it, and its running fin...

Re: 82 Thermostat housing

Ohh so cool. This car is totally stock. Hoping to upgrade the carb soon. Quick question How important is the smog pump on this car I don’t live in California so no Emissions for me. Will it run better or worse. Trying to see what minimal upgrades I can do, ... is there a thread specifically for tha...

Re: 82 Thermostat housing

So I looked further into the leak to discover it’s leaking from the top of this bypass tube or something that connects to the Water pump . See photo Is this a threaded pipe? What’s it for ? Can just plug it ? Thats the bypass tube. It allows coolant to circulate until the thermostat opens. No, you ...

Re: 82 Thermostat housing

Yes. It’s leaking . Is the one on rock auto not avail ? They say it’s avail on their site. I’ll connect to the fb group Shame on me for not actually checking. I'm really surprised they are still available. Make sure you get a gasket, new thermostat, and make sure the thermostat doesn't move when yo...

Re: 82 Thermostat housing

Do you need the housing, or the thermostat itself? You can get the thermostat on rock auto, but the thermostat housing is no longer available. You're going to have to source one from another member. While we aren't affiliated with them, there is an excellent tercel 4wd facebook group that may be use...

Re: 4WD fuel pickup line?

When it comes time, I am just going to take mine to a shop and have it fixed / modified. My '82 tercel will not idle if its below half a tank, leading me to believe theres a hole or crack in the pickup tube. I am going to have mine modified since I will be dropping a 4agte into it, and EFI systems n...

Re: Brand new transmission internals!?!

They dont have most parts that they claim they do. Amayama is a japanese parts exporter, and their supplier for toyota parts is toyota. If you want something strange, lets say a new leather sr5 shift knob (an option on the first gen tercels), and amayama says they have it, they more than likely dont...
