the problem is not the mixture. cold, warm, on or off the choke does not close. what i did end up doing that made a huge difference was i stuck a real loose spring on the end of the lever that the fast idle hits. now it ran great for the first test drive. and is still idling much better. but still ...

its loose. just kinda danglin there. i can movie it around just fine to make the car run smooth

i seem to have tracked down my idling problem to the automatic choke. it will not close. i checked the coil housing and its giving me a resitance of about 23 ohms. so i'm at a loss
