As the title says I am selling my 1985 Toyota Tercel SR5. It has 4wd and it is a manual with the EL gear. I picked this car up a while back, and was able to get the transmission unstuck. However about a month ago it got stuck in 2nd gear again. I will try to see if it is the reverse idler gear this ...

Yea my car still has a good front (and rear) dif. I would think that if I just installed the transmission from the 83, then it would work just fine. Since I would still have the same ratio in the front and rear; that shouldn't cause any problems.

Update: I found someone that is parting out an 83 and 85 wagon in Tennessee. The transmission in the 85 has no 5th gear. He says that the transmission in his 83 is good, but will that transmission work? ( I was thinking that the only difference was the front dif.)

I have never owned a Tercel wagon before. To be completely honest, up until about 2 weeks ago I had no idea they existed. I am a huge fan of anything 4WD/4x4, or AWD. (I like almost anything Subaru.) I absolutely love wagons, so when I heard about this car I got super excited.
