Another problem with the stock carb are the O rings on the two solenoids. I had mine "professionally" built when it wouldn't pass smog. Did it again a couple of years later. Carb shop also did testing, so apparently for a hundred bucks anything would pass. Finally had a kid I work with build it, and ...

I had a missing O ring on one of the solenoids on my carb. Replacing it stopped the problem. Any problem causing too much fuel could cause run on.

The pipe is the air intake for the cat. Fed emision cars have a 2 stage cat. The pipe runs through a filter near the starter then through a reed valve that prevents exaust comming back up. I think it is up inside the engine compartment to keep water and mud out.

That's good to know about the 20r chain. I'll give that a try next time. LC makes it sound as though they're having a special set made. Guess you can't blame them for trying to make a buck, but now they'll have to make it on someone else.
I try to run Wix filters. Sometimes the changes go a little ...

http://www.engnbldr.com does have good prices. I usually buy from my local independant, and haven't shopped the net much for parts. Still, haveing done the timing chain twice, I would opt for the double chain/ steel guide set from LC. The earlier chain set won't fit due to changes in deck height and ...

My daily driver is an '88 standard cab with a 22-r. Mixed driving, moderatly loaded (300-400 lbs.) averages 27 MPG no matter what I change. Pretty rolling around here (Atlanta), and milage is much better than my old S-10.
'84 and newer 22-r/re's have a single roller timing chain. Service interval ...

It's a good thing you don't live here in GA. If you just touch the brakes to make the stoplights come on, not even slowing down, the cops can wright YOU a ticket. How do they keep thinking up these things, and who keeps voting for these idiots?

Won't you have to use the master cylinder out of the GT-S? It seems to me that a disc/drum m/c won't have enough volume to the rear half to operate the calipers. The volume question isn't answered by the proportioning valve. I agree that the GT-S valve should have the correct bias, since you are ...

Couldn't find where I bought mine, but here are some sources. Some have pick ups listed as well. The filler neck was made onto the new tank and must be bent slightly differently from the original, as I have to add gas slowly or the pump shuts down.

Corolla, 84-88, aparently are the same tank.

I ...

No, they are not the same. 2WD wagons have the filler neck on the left side, 4WD's on the right. I purchased a new tank about 2 years ago for about $110 US. I dont remember the company name, but they were in the NE US I belive. Found them on a Google search. I will check my records tonight and see ...

Just took a look at my US version. Single wire switch high on the left side of the case, just over half way back; two wire switch low on right. Both wires connect on top between the trans and the tunnel. One is the back up light switch, the other is the 4x4 indicator.

No, this is a differant product. Freeze 12 is available locally, but requires the use of the correct oil. In other words you may have to evacuate the entire oil charge. The Enviro-safe product is compatable with R-12 or R-134 oils. I've used Freeze 12 successfully, but I've also seen systems fail. I ...

BTW there's an '87 on trader online. No details, though.

It's a white SR5. This is the first one I'd seen, so I'm not sure what's an option and what's SR5. It has 6 speed, p/s, a/c, P/b, standard white steel rims w/ center caps, idiot lights, tach, rear defrost, rear wiper. No sun roof (just heard about that) or cruise.
Bought it for $200 about 2 years ...

I have an '87 SR5 manual. I originaly split a case of ES-12 and used an R- 134a can tap adapted to an R-12 manifold set. If I were worried about a leak, I would use the refrigerant/dyecharge, as it will cool the same. I would also order a side tap for R-12 and R-134, to make it easier to use in ...
