This morning when I started the engine (84 SR5), the RPM jumped to max immediately. The accelerator cable is frayed and was tuck at the end of its housing. Gotta find a new cable.

$120 at O'Rieliy's....plus the core ..I live in the boondocks and have few choices of parts stores. Had to order it and wait a day for delivery., But you guys were right. thanks again

My 86 Tercel SW has gone quirkyl The idiot lights for the battery and the parking brake are staying on. I can find no obvious reason for it. Any ideas

Great info. Thanks to all of you. I just want to pull a small trailer around the ranch to haul 3 or 4 bales of hay and such. When I get a "round tuit" and actually do it, I will post a pic or two of the hitch. Thanks again.

I use one of my 86 SR5 Wagons as a ranch truck. I am thinking of installing a trailer hitch on it so I can pull a very light 2-wheel trailer around the place. Anyone ever done this? Should not be difficult to fabricate a bracket and bolt it to the two hooking loops under the rear bumper. Any ideas ...

Will do. No obvious vac leaks but this began right after a valve job, so I am suspecting a leak. Thank you for the advice. jc

I followed the instructions in my Chilton's Manual and got no voltage, so I replaced the O2 sensor. No help. The engine is still hunting (seeking). Any suggestions? Thanks

I have two 86 Tercel SR5 Wagons. The engine on one has just begun seeking or hunting. Surges between 800 and 1200 rpm at idle. Cant find any obvious vacuum leaks. Clogged ERG? Thanks
