My question is: Do the rear axles really just pull out?
I am trying to replace the rear axle bearings on my 85 Tercel 4WD wagon.
I have the drum off and removed the 4 bolts for the plate that covers the bearing.
The axle does not slide out even with some force (I tied rope onto it and yanked ...

I also have replaced a transmission (that we thought shifted OK) and now if the shifter is in neutral the engine tries to move the car as if it were in 3rd gear. I can only shift to Extra Low in which case the engine can not turn the tranny at all (kills engine). Anyone solve this before? Thank you ...
