Re: Youtube Tercel in Snow

That looks to me like a Toy 4x4 truck frame with a Tercel body on it. The rear has leaf springs, and you can see the frame and transfer case hanging down in one shot. So, not a Tercel at all really.

Sorry to ruin the fun, but it looks like he trashed both a Tercel4wd and a 4x4 truck to make that ...

Free '83 Tercel SR5 - Fargo, ND

I have a free Tercel SR5 in Fargo North Dakota. It starts up just fine, but there is a problem somewhere along the ignition (not the coil) The carb is in okay shape, I think a few vacuum lines may be disconnected. The only other problem is the A/C is gone, and the rear speakers don't work. It's this ...

Re: Easy Problem?

Thanks for all the help...

The solenoids I have setup on a switch, and I can hear them both clicking. The car can also run around 1200 rpm when I first start it, and turning this switch off kills the engine. So this seems to check out.

As far as the vacuum leaks go, I havne't tried retightening ...

Re: Easy Problem?

Well, it's not vacuum line or carb related. I have tried disconnecting all the hoses from the carb, as well as manually moving the choke. The end effect stays the same... it runs for about 20 minutes and then it starts cutting out at low rpm, and then higher rpm, until it just dies and barely ...

Re: custum exhaust

a properly tuned exhaust system can actually have lower back pressure than an open pipe that is not tuned. The harmonics can produce lower back pressure (and more hp) in the exhaust manifold if the system is designed well.

There is an ignorant myth running around that some cars make more hp with ...

Re: Easy Problem?

Alright, did some more testing.. and it's running lean once it warms up... very lean. If I pump the accelerator pump about 10 times, then it will fire up and run fine at 3000 rpm, but as soon as it gets below that it dies again. It will idle when cold, if we yank it with the truck, she fires right ...

Easy Problem?

Hi,

I have a 1983 Tercel SR5. I got it for a really good price as the previous owner hadn't been able to get it to run for several years. It turned out to be the fuel solenoid relay was not getting turned on. With this switched it ran fine for a while until the alternator packed up, then the ...

Re: You Might Own A Nostalgic Car If...

A girl put her feet on my dash twice... she walked home.

Although, she did end up later putting up the brown tercel dieing repeatedly in traffic :-)

That's the one that gets me, people automatically think they have to slam the door when they get into either my Tercel or my Celica. Just because ...
