While I admire your zeal, I think it would be a foolhardy enterprise.
There are no facilities or tools to perform a trans replacement on site and the owner is physically unable to assist. Ground is very rough and uneven.
Drivetrain wise it would need tires and alignment. I replaced ball joints ...

Re: '85 Tercel Wagon 4x4 Kingsport, Tn $500 OBO
Body isn't in bad shape with the exception of the hatchback door. The car used to be his daughters and one of her friends backed it into something.
To the best of my knowledge the only damage was done to the door shell. Other that that, I believe the car is rust free. I'm 6 hours from the car so I ...

'85 Tercel Wagon 4x4 Kingsport, Tn $500 OBO
Posting this for a friend.
It's a 85 wagon 5speed 4x4. 4A motor from a 86 Corolla has been swapped in. Something in the front transaxle has failed, my best guess is the spider gears.
If there is any interest contact elrond@rivendell-farm.com
Will be going to the scrapper 3/30 if no interest is ...

Re: Major oil leak
The culprit was the fuel pump. Replaced it and took a drive with negligible oil loss.
Then pulled the valve cover to replace valve seals no major leaks from there and half moon took a hammer and screwdriver to remove.
Valve seals were beyond toast. Most of the smoke screen is now gone. What is ...

Re: Fuel pump heat shield
Autozone lists it under Fuel Pump Block off
Advance under fuel pump gasket IIRC.
The discount ones at Rockauto were gone and shipping brought the regular price up to the local stores.

Fuel pump heat shield
Can anyone send me a pic of the fuel pump heat shield? Nearest junkyard with a 3A/4A is 3 hours away and the car is 6 hours away. Need a pic for the junkyard to figure out if they have it.

Re: Major oil leak
I knew the car was leaking bad but not that bad.
My brother is pretty much homebound and only drives enough to go out and check the PO Box. It wasn't until he mentioned it was taking him 2 quarts for the trip that I found out how bad it was.
Valve cover gaskets were Felpro. I'll replace them again ...

Re: Major oil leak
What do you do for fuel pump gaskets? The parts places don't list them.

Major oil leak
Did a 4ALC swap and am having problems with a major oil leak
Leaking about 1qt per 5 miles driven.
At the time of swap all gaskets (except head) and seals were replaced. There are signs of valve seals needing replacement but that would not cause the constant flow of oil in the engine compartment ...
