Red 83 DX for parts or? Sandy, Or.

Greetings, I'm planning to take my 83 4WD wagon to the wrecking yard this weekend. It needs too much work and at 364k miles it just doesn't make sense anymore. It runs and drives fine but the carb is shot, (won't pass DEQ without a rebuild) Struts are shot, Master cylinder is shot, trans is tired ...

Leaving the fold

Greetings all. Haven't been around much for awhile. Honestly can't remember if I posted much when I was hanging out here. Anyway it turns out I'm leaving the fold. My old 83 at 364k miles had been sitting for most of the year. Now getting it running again I find the time has not been kind. And it's ...

Re: Shifting

A few days late to the party. I had this very problem recently. I took the top off and found water and lots of rust on the shaft. I put some 5w-30 in there and ran it for a couple days while I ordered up the boot and new bushings. The boot was less than $10. Unfortunately I don't have the part ...

Re: Tires with tough sidewalls, 2 ply??

Great idea! Among the Miata faithful they're known as daisy wheels. example;

A few guys have painted them and also polished the lip. they've removed the stock MAZDA center caps and made center caps using various things like medicine bottle caps and pvc ...

Re: One last gasp of difficulty from the Terc?

Hi Chico,
While I certainly understand your desire to fix it right I have to agree with Tom. It's been a long time since I've seen one of these with the grommets, spacers and bolts all intact. Most of those grommets have long ago disintegrated. The truth is they don't really do that much. Not nearly ...

Re: auto transmission

Hi warbstrd,
Your trans should shift from 1st to 2nd at anywhere from about 8 mph to about 32mph depending on throttle valve position. And then it should shift from 2nd to 3rd at anywhere from 13mph to 65mph again depending on throttle valve position. If yours always shifts from 1st to 2nd at 10 mph ...

Re: Another newbie from the Pacific NW

Thanks for the welcome Tom. Yeah, it is miata.net another great group of guys/gals. I'm 92MarinerBlue on there. Yeah there are a lot of fairly well to do people there no doubt. Although in the 1st generation, i.o.w. NA or '90 - '97 forum where I normally hang out people are very down to earth. In ...

Another newbie from the Pacific NW

Greetings all!
Only found this site recently. It's funny, I had a 92 Miata fall in my lap so I started researching them and found a great Forum devoted to them. The thought of a car forum had never occurred to me. So after participating in the Miata forum for a while I got to wondering if there ...
