Re: terk stolen!
I feel your pain after having my first terc stolen. I was in the motion of moving from CO to Memphis, so almost all my earthly belongings where inside the car. It took some time for me to find an older terc that is still teaching me curse words on maintenance and joys of driving with the windows dow...

Re: 197000 mile tune-up
Thanks for he help. Autozone can get a crate 3-ac head or a 4-ac engine. I am sticking with he 3a because it just works in the Terc. sadly I will not be doing this myself do to me being in Memphis only temporary (next job interview tomorrow) then back up to job site in IL. My front end mechanic - I ...

197000 mile tune-up
Knowing very little about cars I rebuilt my engine 197000 miles ago. Recently it has been eating head gaskets, oil, and bangan/clangn in ways that I would describe as not good. I know the valve in at least one cylinder are not right and seepage is around one plug. The question is do I go for a crate...

one in the states now too. i am fairly sure the all trac is a miss label; either that or there is an extra shifter in the car.

Re: 1986 Tercel 4WD SR5 being parted out
i have not updated my tercel vs wild chevy and the insurance agent yet. exhilarating drama and comedy, with a touch of adventure. i am really interested in the steering rack of your car. i have been running manual on my power steering rack for some time, and since my rack was/is damaged i would just...

Re: How Strong is the Roof?
about 450 # per side (right over the gutter mount) with thule racks is about the limit i have found. of course this is loading both sides equally. you still can put some junk in the trunk without bottoming out. its a tercel, not a race car, and not that polished expedition that is passing you. 500 #...

Re: Restocking the most used "tools"?
for single sockets and wrenches the best bet is usually pawn shops. i like the ones closer to bail bonds than crack neighborhoods. with crack heads you just get harbor freight and great neck, which work as a socket and a hammer, but never as a socket, then hammer, then socket again.

Re: What do you get like when they call it a Subaru?
"no, it's a tercel". from there most everyone takes a second look and questions a tercel 4wd....and recently (pre-wreck) overs something for my "gas saver". isn't it sad that we have to look at a car made in 1984 with a freakn carb to save gas. i mean we are in the 2000 eees. bud...

its not totaled, its a classic
on sunday night a pack of wild big sedans decided to pick on my tercel. needless to say the olds 88 going 40 curled its hood under its tail; the chevy (late 80's vintage) going about 40 fought hard before the turtle ripped out, split open and then enjoyed the marrow of its rear axle. to the amazemen...
