Re: RPM Cycling Situation & Vacuum Switch Location Query
archinstl: did you ever get this issue sorted out? My '85 sr5 4wd CA car tercel has the same problem. xirdneh: I'm not so sure that your tip about the locations of the fuel solenoids is correct. My '84 sr5 4wd CA car tercel has the single wire solenoid on the drivers side (left) and the double wire ...

Re: How to diagnose engine hesitation, stumble, jerking, bucking
Could I get another definition of what is being called the "power valve" in Jts's original post. Have looked in the FSM exploded diagram and do not see anything called that. Are we talking about the 1st fuel cut solenoid as referred to on pgs. ec56-57 of the FSM?
Thanks

O2 sensor voltage at idle? 3ac tuned for smog check
I'm prepping my '85 4wd M/T terc for the CA smog check, yes it is a CA car. I see in the FSM that the fuel feedback system does not control the mixture below 1300 rpm. What kind of 02 sensor voltages are you folks seeing when at idle on a terc like mine when the idle drop idle mixture adjustment met...

Re: Repir Quesstion: Should I???
Just wondering what happened that makes you think it is shot? If it threw a rod out the oil pan, sure it's RIP time. These engines can have problems that result in smoking and oil burning that can lead one to believe it is done for when it is not. I'd be curious enough to give your engine situation ...

Re: High compression readings?
Ok, I guess that there is not too much to worry about. Thanks for the info. BTW: B-12 is 70% acetone and 30% toluene, check the MSDS. So you can just make your own if you feel like it. Yes, that stuff will clean out the lubricated parts of an engine really well. I just was into my valve cover and it...

High compression readings?
I'm getting 190-197psi compression readings, 3ac 141k miles in my '85 4wd terc. Strange thing is the compression went up (was mid 180's before) after doing the full Seafoam smoke out the 'hood treatment.
Any ideas?

Re: Air filter to air cleaner assy. gaskets?
Thanks for the replys.
xirdneh: Funny but that is what I wasa thinking of doing also. Decided to check the local dealer. Surprise, available, for $33 each!! My local auto parts store has an inside line on yota parts and he is getting me a set for $50. Spendo, but it will be nice.

Air filter to air cleaner assy. gaskets?
Hi, new here but have been on club4ag as ae86chico for years. The Tercel problem of the moment is that the gaskets that are contact cemented to the air cleaner housing (8.75" nominal ID)and lid have grown too large in diameter (grown to about 9.25") to seal well to the air filter. I have r...
