exhaust emission part missing
I have an 85 sr5 wagon federal emission and have found most of a stock exhaust system to replace the old rusted one. Can anyone tell me what is the under-hood canister that attaches to the catalytic converter, and where i can get another? the wagon i got the exhaust from didnt have the canister.

I do not know where you can get them, is just a reed chamber to allow fresh air to be introduced to the exhaust stream to help break down the CO and NOx into non-toxic compounds. your old one should be useable, if for some reason it is missing, most people just block off the air inlet tube on the side of the cat. You will not notice any difference in the way it runs, it would only matter if you have to pass an emissions inspection. Most states exempt older cars from testing and inspection anyway. I might have one in a box somewhere you can have, not sure if I got rid of my "spare" ones.

Re: exhaust emission part missing
hello im back from overheating integra hell... so the fsm calls this part the air suction valve for federal emissions. i'm trying to make the tercel able to pass emissions testing in case i relocate to california. i got an AS valve, but found out the chamber was rusted out. the reed valve block looks good though. i see theres what looks like an air filter inside the chamber. looks like the car i got this part from ran through some deep water. odd though, since the rest of the exhaust was fairly rust free.

If I part out my junker 87 it may have what you need. Or maybe I'll steal it out of the other 87 FWD if it doesn't need it to run!

Re: exhaust emission part missing
hey as long as its not full of rust thats going to get sucked into my cat, i'll accept any federal AS valve. are these things 4wd/2wd specific? i see slight differences in an old manual ive got. send it to 744 west 11th st #2 medford oregon 97501 and let me know what you need for it.
