Hello, my '86 wagon FWD which I thought had the same front as the 4x4 needs struts. I ordered some and ended up w/363037. Upon further KYB site investigation I see that the FWD wagon uses 363030 as well as hatchbacks. Does anyone know what the difference is? I'm wondering if it is just that the 4x4 handles more weight and abuse? Thanks in advance for any help folks!
Good times!

they are exactly the same except the 4wd tube is about an inch (25mm) longer. some strut companies sell you the same insert for both cars, the the struts are different, the 4wd one is longer. I do not know if that translates to more travel, I do not think it does, just more length to raise the 4wd up about an inch. The springs, the top mount, the lower mount, shaft dia, and everything else is the same, it is just the 4wd one is a little longer.

So the tubes will fit into my struts, but I will have a 1" lift... I can live with that. Petros, thanks much.

Re: front struts-kyb 363037 vs 363030
This is incorrect. The longer inserts WILL NOT fit in the shorter 2wd struts, but the shorter inserts will fit in the longer 4wd struts. You have to replace the whole strut assembly from the 4wd to put in the 2wd car to use the longer strut insert and to lift your car about an inch.
Do not confuse the insert, that is available for our cars, with the strut. Newer cars will often replace the whole strut to replace the shocks instead of selling just an insert.

Thanks Petros for straightening that out for me! I have the KYB tube inserts to take back to Costa Rica for my wagon there. Luggage space is precious! So tubes only!
Good times!
