WTB-Windshields-Original (Used) or Quality Replacements
Hit an owl about a week ago--Have found out that even crappy replacement windshields are hard to get, at least in Canada. Does anyone know a reliable source of original glass, or where to get a good used windshield? Owl accident would have been much worse with crappy replacement windshield--I probably would not be sitting here typing as the poor bird would have some right through. Don't know which part of the southern interior you are in but Castle Glass in Castlegar can get a replacement windshield pretty quickly and I have no complaints about the quality of their work.

Thanks, marlinh
I am in Midway, and much appreciate the info! I would love to get a couple original windshields as there is no comparison in strength between the aftermarket glass and the original glass that Toyota used. That being said, one has to have a windshield, even if it is not as strong. I made an appointment in GF for a replacement, but have learned that they are getting harder to get.
Say, how are your lights for brightness? I find that my '85 FWD summer car, which has sealed beams, has much better headlights than my '87 4WD--even though I bought some Sylvania (up to 50 % more brightness) bulbs for the trip home from Vancouver last Thursday (when the Owl and I collided). The lights seem to be adjusted all right, but the brightness just isn't nearly as good. I am even thinking of putting in an earlier grill, and the sealed beam headlights because I can't stand driving in poor light. How are you fixed for parts? I have quite a few myself--let me know if you are needing anything--I have dupes of many parts.

It will save you hundreds of dollars to drive south of the boarder and get it replaced in Bellingham. There are not a lot of glass dealers that can get them in Washington state either but I know the glass chain "Safelite auto glass" can get them and do a good job installing them. About $300 that last time I got one last june.

Hey I just saw on Craigslist in Eastern Oregon an ad for factory winshields from a shop that is liquidating out of La Grande. Has a new windshield for our Tercs for $25.00. Check it out.
Peace
