all tracs are soooo expensive on used car lots. pretty low kms (200,000), manual trans. the last one these guys had sold within two weeks. it was advertised at the same price, $4900.

David, it looks like there is more room in the back seat of a T4wd than in the Corolla wagons, what do you think, now that you have crossed over?

not sure about the back seat but the cargo area definitely has more room in the corolla. i was surprised because it looked the other way when eyeballing it. i really like the roof-mounted rear speakers in the corolla, it saves space that the cargo area wing-pieces/speaker mounts waste in the tercel.

David does your awd have a rear spoiler? Will it fit a sr5? Larry

hi larry, yep my corolla has the spoiler. it has feet on either side that are 12" long x 2.5" wide, and the overall width of the thing is 35.5". the feet slope downward on their outer edge a bit. i measured it out on one of my tercs and it looks like it should fit. the only concern would be how well the slope of the feet matches the curve of the tercel's roof but the measurements are so close that i think any difference would be negligible and easy to adapt. the spoiler looks like it's fiberglass so you could probably sand it to a perfect fit. the only other x-factor is that i'm not sure how it's fastened to the all trac. it's either glued or the screws/bolts are hidden by the headliner.

not likely the corolla spoiler will fit, the car is wider than the Tercel, the roof is shaped differently too. just walk through a parking lot and find a spoiler you like and measure the width. than you can go look for it in a wrecking yard.
The cargo space in the rear is actually a different shape. I think the Tercel wagon, w/o the speaker shelf, actually have more cubic ft of cargo space, it is much taller. the sides of the corolla slope inward and the the roof is lower.

see my previous post. i measured and it looks like it should work. the corolla is rounded more but with some sanding the spoiler should fit the terc fine.Petros wrote:not likely the corolla spoiler will fit
this got me wondering so i just measured both. here's what i got for rough measurements. for depth i laid the rear seats down and measured to the ends of the top of the seats.Petros wrote:I think the Tercel wagon, w/o the speaker shelf, actually have more cubic ft of cargo space, it is much taller. the sides of the corolla slope inward and the the roof is lower.
terc
top width: 33"
bottom width: 45"
height: 33"
depth: 60"
all trac
top width: 30"
bottom width: 48"
height: 30"
depth: 60"
so the terc has the edge in two measurements while the all trac has the edge in one, but for someone like myself who values a great stereo very highly, the corolla also gets an edge in that it doesn't require the speaker shelves for rear speakers. so i guess i'd personally call it even.

averaging the upper and lower widths, the Tercel has 44.7 cu ft of space, and the all-trac has 40.6. Tercel wins by 10 percent, over 4 cubic feet more!
Tercel also have better visibility and ground clearance.
Of course the all trac has the much better EFI engine, and it much quieter on the road (which also makes enjoying a good sterio better).
I would have thought the all-trac has a longer bed, distance from the front seats to the tail gate, I guess not. the whole car seems longer than the Tercel.

yup, here it is liz. the pic is pretty dark (even with a flash!) but you can see the speaker boxes on either side of the ceiling. i love having them up out of the way, and pointing forward rather than straight up like in the tercel. some all tracs have a weird luggage compartment between those speakers, i believe they call it a rear glove box. i don't like it because it takes up more room and doesn't serve any real purpose so i'm happy mine came without it.
