1986 SR5 for sale in Pueblo, CO

Post by ar.fanning »

This car is not currently running, but I am listing it in this section because I am not interested in parting it out, the whole package has to go!
I loved this little car and had big plans for restoring and modifying it, but that has turned out not to be feasible.

The engine needs to be rebuilt and it needs new tires, but the body is in very good condition - straight with no major rust.
Also, the car has many new parts installed. the clutch, water pump, and starter are brand new. The alternator, shocks, struts, and brakes have very low mileage on them.

This car has been in my family since it was new and has a clear CO title. Approx. 186k on the OD.

I am asking $600. Buyer must tow.

I really hope someone can give this car a new life!

Cosmetically, it is in very nice condition. The left rear quarter is the only body damage, and that is relatively minor. There is no major rust anywhere on the car. The transmission and 4WD work perfectly. With a rebuild or crate motor, this will be an excellent car again.

I will accept offers on this because I need to get rid of it soon. The person with the best offer who can come pick it up within a week gets it. Otherwise, I will remove as many parts as I can move with me and the rest will go to the scrap yard. I would love for this car to go to a good home, but time is an issue and I need to get rid of it by any means necessary.

do you know what the engine needs? head gasket? or rod knock, or what? I might be interested in fixing it and driving it home (I can bring or ship the parts, including a whole engine if need be). please describe the engine issues in more detail.

The engine was burning oil and fouling plugs before I stopped driving it, so it will need at least a top end rebuild. I have not had time to thoroughly troubleshoot it, though so I may not be able to give you the information you need. When I towed it to a garage to store it, I towed it in low gear for a bit, and the engine turns over and still has good compression, but there is a quiet knock. It needs tires and a battery as well. It will probably sell locally in the next few days, but I will keep you updated if you think the project will be worth it to you. To let you know the time frame I am looking at, I need to have the car gone by Nov. 14th.

Thanks for your interest, and let me know if you have any further questions.
