4a cam into 3a?

Post by danzo »

Does anyone know if these two camshafts are identical (or at least swappable)? My local Pick 'n' Snag is having their Nearly World Famous Semi-Annual Half Price Sale ("Bring your tools, friends, beer, and first aid kits!") this weekend. They do have a possibly complete '82 Terc hatchback, but it would be alot easier to locate a 4a camshaft. Hell, I may buy the whole 4a engine just so I can put more hosses to the ground.

Speaking of hp, below is a link to a cool engine math/hp calculator. You can fairly accurately estimate hp from an 1/8 mile drag time. I plan to do some mods over the winter (weber, cam, exhaust) and would run my car down the local 660 to get a baseline. Of course I would capture it on video, including but not limited to the drunken rednecks exploding their '70's muscle cars. They don't kindly to "them foriegn car types" so I'll have the scattergun handy just in case.

It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.

They should be interchangeable if I recall, there was some minor difference in the distrubutor gear or something simliar, it just means you have to swap the gear over from the old cam.

Get the whole engine, at that price how can you go wrong! With the new cam, weber and exhuast you will get the best you can from that little engine without going to more drastic changes.
